New email list for Hops and Chops

Let’s party like it’s 1995 folks — for those of you who don’t read every item in your tweet-stream, we thought that it might be useful to have an actual Hops and Chops email list.

Sign up for the list here, or using the form on the right side of the blog —>

It’ll mail whenever we make updates to the blog — hopefully this’ll provide another way for folks to keep up-to-date on gatherings when people will actually be showing up in numbers (since, we admit, weekly attendance/energy has been a little sporadic)

Of course, we truly like to think of Hops and Chops as something that you don’t need to pre-plan or think about too much — it’s a place to go to find a few folks to bounce ideas off of, and recharge your energies.  Hope it’s helpful.

Let us know if you have other ideas (of course, be prepared to have your ideas ignored, if they entail any actual work on our parts :-) )

Hops and Chops has been nominated for a 2010 TechFlash Flashie Award!
Now, we have a 0% chance of winning, as we’re in the same category as Seattle TechStars (i.e. the ‘Do-Gooder of the Year’ category), but that doesn’t reduce our overflowing pride at even being mentioned in the same sentence :-)
Come out to the Flashies on December 1st — it’ll be a blast!

Free Beer Tomorrow (11/18)

We’re teaming up with our friends from Beer2Buds to give you a free beer at Hops & Chops tomorrow.

Here’s the details:

How to get a Free Beer ($5 bucks):

All you have to do is send out a Tweet and include:
@hopsandchops and @beer2buds

When you arrive at Auto Battery, show us your tweet and Beer2Buds will Bump you $5 on your iPhone.

Of course you can choose to bet your $5 bucks away and accumulate more. Just find a beer buddy with an iPhone and challenge him/her to a bet. Loser bumps beer; winner stacks up their beer money account.

Don’t have an iPhone? DM us after your tweet and we’ll send you a beer before Thursday that you can print out and bring with you.

Gathering of Hops and Chops regulars… Red Foundry in the house, TeachStreet’s Kenji Crosland, and a few others.  Looks like I need to take some Photography classes or something like sewing classes :-)

Special Guest Dave McClure (500Startups) attending Hops and Chops this week

Super Angel Dave McClure (500Startups) will be in Seattle this week, attending board meetings, meeting with entrepreneurs, speaking at StartupDay, and probably most important, headlining Hops and Chops on Thursday night at Auto Battery.

So, if you’ve got your elevator pitch primed, come try it out on Dave.

Here’s some advice though — he prefers to have his pitches served with a tasty beer, for both him and his buddies Dave and Daryn.

If you don’t know how to track him down, you probably don’t have much hope of getting any of his money — he’s @davemcclure

He looks like this and he’s really into Home Services!
