Let's kick off Hops and Chops 2012!
Hey folks — we admit that Hops and Chops organization has been a little bit lax for the last few weeks (OK… months).  So, let’s kick off 2012 with a good week this week.  Would be great to catch up, and rumor has it that I’ll be buying at least 5 pitchers… 10 if Tony Wright or Todd Sawicki show up :-)

Field Trip this week!
One of the core tenets behind Hops & Chops is “Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel”, but every now and then an event conflicts with the schedule and, well, who are we to turn down free beer? So, this Thursday, August 18th: DO NOT pass GO.  DO NOT collect $200.  DO NOT show up at Auto Battery. Instead, come join us in celebrating the growing success of our friends Estately and Nine...

Super Angel Dave McClure (500Startups) will be in Seattle this week, attending board meetings, meeting with entrepreneurs, speaking at StartupDay, and probably most important, headlining Hops and Chops on Thursday night at Auto Battery. So, if you’ve got your elevator pitch primed, come try it out on Dave.   Here’s some advice though — he prefers to have his pitches served with...

Moving Back to Linda's for next few weeks!
Hops and Choppers — tomorrow night at Spitfire is going to be a madhouse, because of the NBA Game #7.  So, we’re moving up to Linda’s Tavern (on Capitol Hill — address is 707 E Pine St, Seattle, WA 98122), and staying there until further notice.   And, if you bitch about parking, you buy the next round for everyone. As many of you have heard, we’re planning on...

We finally had it with Linda’s — we love the atmosphere, but the grisly bar wenches and wankers were too much to deal with now that the rainy season (and no more back patio) is upon us. This led to a lengthy Hops and Chops debate about where our migration would lead us — @daryn ended it with “What about Jonathan Sposato’s Spitfire?” — perfect —...

Just a reminder that it’s our second-official “Ladies Night” at Hops and Chops tonight — we’ve put out the call, and think we’re ready to Rock the Party (per Flight of the Conchords) — @askthemd (aka DJHotStockings)put out the call to her 103.7 The Mountain tweeps, and rumor has it that Daryn’s even using his twitter account for outreach, so watch...

A Different Same Place?
One of the core tenets of Hops & Chops is that we meet at the same place at the same time every week. You never have to think about it: if it’s Thursday and you’re in the neighborhood, stop in and see who’s around! If you miss a night, no worries, we’ll be there the following week. That said, the past several weeks have seen some large crowds, and we’re wondering...

Top Hops and Chops VC is from Los Angeles?
Well, we’ve successfully Hopped and Chopped for five weeks (#6 is tonight!), and all in all, it’s been fantastic — we’ve averaged 30-40 folks, and the conversation’s been fun and relaxed.  Seems like we’ve hit on a good thing. With 5 weeks under our belt, we thought we’d give some summary stats: #1 VC attendee?  Palamor Ventures Associate Adam Gottesfeld.  Runner Up?  Randall Lucas of Voyager...
