Jeff Lawson, CEO of one of our favorite startups: Twilio, is leaving Seattle for the Bay Area. In preparation for his departure, he created a slideshare presentation entitled “Answers To Every Seattle Tech Startups Question Ever Asked”.
This slide got it right!
Ladies Night at Hops and Chops tonight!
Just a reminder that it’s our second-official “Ladies Night” at Hops and Chops tonight — we’ve put out the call, and think we’re ready to Rock the Party (per Flight of the Conchords) — @askthemd (aka DJHotStockings)put out the call to her 103.7 The Mountain tweeps, and rumor has it that Daryn’s even using his twitter account for outreach, so watch out!
Meet the Geek of the Week
Dave Schappell , the founder of TeachStreet (and more importantly, of Hops & Chops), is the Seattle P-I’s Geek of the Week.
Experience his painful awkwardness every Thursday night at Linda’s. He’ll dazzle you with words he’s picked up around the office, like ‘grep’,’puppet’,’geocode’,’sphinx’, and ‘nginx’, and occasionally, he’ll even know how to pronounce them correctly.
If Dave had written this post, it would have looked something like:

A Different Same Place?
One of the core tenets of Hops & Chops is that we meet at the same place at the same time every week. You never have to think about it: if it’s Thursday and you’re in the neighborhood, stop in and see who’s around! If you miss a night, no worries, we’ll be there the following week.
That said, the past several weeks have seen some large crowds, and we’re wondering whether it is time to choose a different “same place” to meet.
If you have an opinion, please answer the poll, and leave a comment with any specific ideas on neighborhoods and bars. $3 sliders are a big plus…
